Can I Apply for the My Safe Florida Home Program Online?

Quick Answer

Yes, you can apply online through the My Safe Florida Home Applicant Portal after completing the required account, questionnaire, and group-assignment steps. You must first create an account and complete the Prioritization Questionnaire to be placed in an Inspection Group or Grant Group. Online application availability does not guarantee funding because the program depends on annual legislative appropriations. If you are counting on a grant when budgeting for a home purchase or improvements, confirm funding availability with the program before relying on that money. Call me at 941.400.8735 or reach out directly to Michael Renick – I’ll share my approach with you.

How do you apply for My Safe Florida Home online?

Start with the official Applicant Portal access page, which links to Neighborly and explains how to create your account.

You apply through the My Safe Florida Home Applicant Portal, called Neighborly, after creating an account, completing the Prioritization Questionnaire, and receiving a group assignment. Access to the corresponding inspection or grant application follows that assignment.

The My Safe Florida Home Support Center gives this sequence:

It is easy to understand why Team Renick, led by Mike and Eric, has been successful. I reached out to Mike from Boston, which is where I live. I shared with him exactly what I was looking for. I also explained that my husband and I wouldn’t be down to Florida for about six months. Mike continued to send us listings to view and would check in from time to time. I really like that his approach was more like how can we be of help instead of when are you going to buy! He really did want to make sure that he was not wasting our time with listings we didn’t want to see! Over the six-month period we were able to make some adjustments to what we were looking for. When we arrived in Florida, both Mike and Eric met with us in their office. We developed a plan and Eric took it from there. On our first day of viewings, Eric began by presenting us with a custom book he had put together that included everything we were going to see that day, background information on each condo association, as well as plenty of room for our notes. As the day progressed, it became very clear how well Eric knows this market. If all goes well, we will submit our first offer tomorrow morning. At that point, the boys have told us that both of them will be involved in the negotiations. I know we are going to get this done. If I had to sum up the strengths of Team Renick, it would be easy. They are knowledgeable, hardworking, prepared, keep their word, and most of all both of them demonstrated that they really do care! I know that we wouldn’t find this in a large brokerage! Patty

  1. Create your Applicant Portal account.
  2. Complete the Prioritization Questionnaire.
  3. Receive placement in an Inspection Group or Grant Group.
  4. Access the corresponding application.

Treat account creation and the questionnaire as preliminary steps – not as your completed inspection or grant application.

What if you cannot apply online?

If you need help accessing or using the online application, the current My Safe Florida Home Support Center lists 850-427-2559 and an online support-ticket option. Ask the program what assistance is available for your situation; do not assume a phone call itself submits an application.

That phone option is stated for grant applicants under this rule. If you need help applying for an inspection, ask the My Safe Florida Home Support Center what assistance is available.

Does online access mean funding is guaranteed?

Online application availability does not guarantee funding. Florida Statutes section 215.5586 makes implementation of the My Safe Florida Home Program subject to annual legislative appropriations.

My husband and I have had the pleasure of working with Team Renick, specifically Eric, on the purchase of our condo. You would think it would be a challenge to buy a condo in Florida when you live in the New Jersey and COVID has limited your travel, but not when you work with Team Renick It may have been a physical challenge but with Eric’s help and expertise we were able to buy a condo sight unseen. Eric did multiple walk throughs for us with FaceTime and took videos and pictures for us (numerous times). He is experienced, professional, courteous, proactive, honest, knowledgeable… I could go on and on. When you work with Team Renick you work together. Eric was and still is responsive to all calls, texts and emails. He made us feel like we were his only clients. Even after closing if there is any need you have both Eric and Mike are responsive. From taking pictures to going to your mail box and bringing packages into your condo… You can tell and feel that they care about their clients. Could not have imagined doing this with any other team!

Questions Clients Actually Ask

Can I submit an application immediately after creating an account?

Account creation alone does not give you application access. You must also complete the Prioritization Questionnaire and receive placement in an Inspection Group or Grant Group before accessing the corresponding application.

What To Do Right Now

Before committing money based on an expected grant, contact the My Safe Florida Home Support Center and ask whether funding is available for your application.
